Report Server Vs Report Services - Report Load Time

Hello Friends

We are using Power BI Report Server to build and embedd reports into our web application. The report takes around 8-12 Sec to load when opened in ReportServer Portal. The same report when uploaded to Services(Cloud) hardly takes 1Sec for the report to load. is there away to get the same performance on Server(On-Premise). I know both the techologies are different but is there away to improve my load time and get the same result as on Services.

Any information will be helpful. And if the load time is aroun 8-12Sec is it good on Report Server or can we get the report loading under 5Sec?

ThanksYou

Regards

H

Hi @Anonymous ,

Try to refer to this post: power bi report server very slow.

Hi all,

We experienced similar performance problems as described here. Loading portal pages took more than 30-40 secs, there were no CPU or SQL issues. Our on-prem Power BI Report Server (v. Jan 2019) is used by our co-workers in various locations/offices and behind a Amazon Route 53 DNS using a specific hostname. Then I got pointed in the right direction by using developer tools in Chrome returning some 401 http errors in the network tab.

It turned out all I had to do is add the hostname we are using to the registry of the Power BI RS and reboot the server. Please check the following kb article, for us Method 1 solved our problems.

https://support.microsoft.com/nl-nl/help/926642/error-message-when-you-try-to-access-a-server-locall...

I tried the method in the link and the report loading speed has been improved.

Best Regards,

Icey

It depends on the resources of or On-Premise server along with the size of the reports.

We have some very big reports at the report server (data is big ) it usually takes around 10-15 seconds to load but then it opens fine (switching pages) after the first load.

Currently, we have assigned 32GB Memory to the Report Server.
