Remote Power BI report server SQL database pros and cons

Hi, 

 

Im after pros and cons from any one who has run Power BI report server with a remote configuration SQL database. Ideally I'd like to prevent "wasting" a licence on a single PBI instance however I'm worried about capacity and performance.

 

Any help apreciated.
