Problem Adding User to Power BI Report Server

Hello,

I need help with resolving this error. I gave this user access to the reports in report server but he can't run reports because of permission level he has.

I want to remove the initial role assigned to him but I can't see his ID to remove the role initially assigned to him but when I try to add him to administrator role I get the error in the screenshot. Any clue on how to resolve this will be fine.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hello,

Yes the admin granted the permission but this other error persisted. So I downloaded Report builder 2014 which resolved the second error. Our report server is 2012 version.

Hi,

Did you try adding domain name before the username?

Kind regards,
Farrukh

Yes I did. If I go to Report level > Manage Report> Security> customize I am able to Edit but unable to change at Parental Level.

Hi @mjsystemss,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Community Forum.

Please follow below steps to resolve the error;

1.If you can't edit permissions at the parent level, it's likely due to inherited roles and lack of sufficient access.

2.Please Ask an existing Report Server admin to grant your user the System Administrator or Content Manager role at the root level.

3.Navigate to the Report Server root → Settings → Security → Add your user with the required role.

4.Use SQL Server to assign your user to RSExecRole or insert permissions into PolicyUserRole table for root access.

Please continue using Microsoft Community Forum.

If this post helped resolve your issue, kindly consider marking it as "Accept as Solution" and give it a 'Kudos' to help others find it more easily.

Regards,
Pavan.
