PowerBI questions for license and vcore

we are evaluating powerbi report server. I have below questions
- Our analysts will create analysis and share it via embeded reports to clients via report server. Do we need powerbi premium for each developer as well or just one license to share it with clients?

- if one vcore handles n number of users in powerbi report server, does that user includes peopel viewing analysisn or this publishing to it as well?

Power BI Report Server is the on-prem offering, typically you would use this when you want to run inside your corporate firewall and do not want any external users accessing your data. If you want to share reports with external parties then using the Power BI Service is probably a better option, plus you get a lot of additional functionality for the same price (see Comparing Power BI Report Server and the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Learn).

You need a premium capacity license for the server and then Pro licenses for each developer Licensing Power BI Report Server

The server core licenses cover report viewing, rendering, refreshing. Each report publisher also require an individual Power BI Pro license.

Hi @nisaanwaar ,

To answer your first question, you will need to have a Power BI Premium license for each developer who will be creating and publishing reports on the Power BI Report Server. The Power BI Report Server is a standalone on-premises server that enables your organization to host and publish Power BI reports, and it requires a Premium license to use.

To answer your second question, the number of v-cores in a Power BI Premium capacity determines the number of users that can concurrently access and interact with the reports hosted on the Power BI Report Server. This includes both people who are viewing the reports and people who are publishing reports to the server.

It's important to note that the number of v-cores you need for your Power BI Report Server will depend on the number of users and the expected level of usage. You can use the Power BI Capacity Calculator to help you determine the appropriate number of v-cores for your organization's needs.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry
