Large Excel Files

Hi,

We have 3-4 huge (~20Gb) excel files which we need to use for the reporting. Please suggest an effecient way to put these files into the data model for reporting.

Thanks

You really don't have a lot of options with Excel files, the systems has to read the entire file every time it refreshes. But for that volume of data Excel is probably not the main system of record, my guess is that these files are being exported from some other system. For that volume of data you would probably be better off to store the data in a "smarter" data store like a relational database where you can run queries and apply indexes. For an on premise solution using Power BI Report Server I would lean towards storing the data in SQL and building a tabular model in SSAS and using that model as the source for your Power BI reports.
