Getting version error message in uploading reports after adding New table and New measure

Hi

I prepared a plain report on Power BI Desktop (May 2024), saved it on my laptop, and uploaded it to the Power BI server. To improve the report, I modified the saved report (not the uploaded one) by adding a New table and a New measure from Modelling using the same Desktop version of Powe BI and then tried to upload it to the Server. This time, I am getting an error message that the updated Desktop version is incompatible with the Server. However, I can still upload reports that do not have a New table or New measure added. Can anyone suggest me please how to solve the problem?

Hi, @M-Sayeed

I use Power BI Desktop(May 2024) to create a sample PBIX and save as file, upload to the Power BI Report Server. Then open this file in Power BI Desktop(not RS version), save and upload.

When I open the file again with the RS version of Power BI Desktop, save it with the modifications, and publish it to Report Server, I am able to replace the original file and the added measures are visible

You can check if you are using another Power BI Desktop when you modify the report. If so, you just need to open the report in the RS version of Power BI Desktop, save it, and upload it.

v-yohua-msft,

You are a genius, brother. It worked for me using two versions of the Desktop as you suggested. In short, if you do not use the DAX query view in the RS version, but do it using the non-RS version and but save the final version of the report from the RS version then the Server will accept the report. Thanks a lot for your help.
