Hello,
Why is it that there is no option to reset the on-prem gateway recovery key, once you forget it then that's it. I find this challenging becuase it means i will have to re-authenicate all my data model for them to restore automatic refresh.
Well, I changed the on-prem gateway server hence i needed to migrate my old gateway to the new one but I just decided to create a new one and restart the authentication of my connections. Unless maybe someone has a different experience but i feel this can be improved.

Hello Winston !
Thank you for posting on Microsoft Fabric community.
By design there’s no reset if forgotten for the on-premises data gateway recovery key. That key encrypts your data-source credentials and Microsoft can’t retrieve or override it. You can change/rotate the key only if you still know the current one so if it’s lost, the only path is to create a new gateway and reconfigure/rebind your data sources. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-migrate
Hi @Winston,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. You are right the recovery key is a critical part of the on-premises data gateway because it’s used to encrypt the stored data-source credentials. By design, Microsoft does not provide a reset option if the key is forgotten, and there’s no way for support to retrieve or override it. The only case where you can update/rotate the key is if you still have access to the current one. As @AmiraBedh has already responded to your quesry, kindly go through the response and check if it answers your query.
I would also take a moment to thank @AmiraBedh, for actively participating in the community forum and for the solutions you’ve been sharing in the community forum. Your contributions make a real difference.
If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
Hammad.
