Experiencing random refresh errors after upgrading to Power BI RS January 2026
- 6 months ago
Hi mrusu ,
I understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially since refresh reliability is important and everything worked well before the January 2026 upgrade. Given that the issue began after the update, occurs randomly across different reports, manual refresh is successful, and changing the timeout hasn’t helped, it doesn’t seem like a misconfiguration on your end. It’s possible the new build introduced this problem.
At this stage, I don’t think it’s necessary for you to continue troubleshooting locally. I recommend submitting a Microsoft Support ticket so their team can investigate further. If it’s a build issue, that’s likely the fastest way to resolve it.

Hi mrusu ,
Thank you for engaging with the Microsoft Fabric Community. The issue appears to have started after the January 2026 Report Server upgrade. Since manual refreshes are successful, Analysis Services seems accessible, suggesting a possible temporary connection or timeout problem during scheduled refreshes.
Could you please check the following
1. Report Server logs at the time of the error
2. Status and load of Analysis Services during scheduled refresh
3. If multiple refresh jobs are running simultaneously, try staggering them
This should help us determine why scheduled refreshes fail while manual ones succeed.
Please try this once and let us know if the issue still continues. We’ll be happy to assist you further.

Yugandhar.
