Direct Query MariaDb not working in Power Bi Online

Hi!

I currently am using Direct Query with MariaDb and on the Desktop version everything is working fine, but when publish the report to the online environment i get the following error message and all the visuals are white.

Cannot load the model

Cannot load the model schema associated with this report. Check that the server connection is active and try again.
Check the technical details for more information. When contacting support, provide these details.

Does anyone may know what is causing this problem? Thanks in advance - Willem

We are experiencing the same issue, but with a custom connector. We're getting this error: "Unable to determine the data source. When custom connectors are used, the error can happen if gateway doesn't have the extension enabled." If we publish the report again, it will work for a few hours until we get the same error again. We're using a directy query source with a custom connector. Everything was working fine up until this week.

This thread is the only result for this specific error message on Google, so seems like this is a new type of issue/error.

I spent a very long time on this last week. Indeed, there was nowhere to find exactly what the problem could be or what the options were.

After I checked everything properly (On-Premise Gateway recognizes MariaDB connector, privancy levels are the same, etc) I still got the error message that the data source is not recognized.

After I added and deleted something in a file, I got the error message in Power Bi Online; "one or more cloud databases have been deleted".

When that error message came, I did manage to map a gateway connection to the On-premises, and then the error message went away and there were no more problems. Very strange how that went.

I'm having this exact same problem within the last couple of weeks.  Had a report that was doing a scheduled refresh.  All has been well.  A couple weeks ago, it stops refreshing from the MariaDB through a Gateway.  If I pull it up in Power BI Desktop, it works just fine.  If I re-publish the report, it seems to work okay in the service for a couple hours, but then eventually fails the scheduled refresh.

The report shows the same error as above... "Cannot load the model."

The dataset error shows "Unable to determine the data source. When custom connectors are used, the error can happen if gateway doesn't have the extension enabled. Details: undefined."

For some reason it works at the moment, but i have absolutely no idea how it worked. After some tries i got the message : "some cloud databases were deleted" and after that i could connect to a gateway. Very strange
