Accessing Default values of a parameter from SSRS Report

Hi Friends,

We're using Power BI server for hosting SSRS reports. These reports shown using ReportViewer control in UI centric applications, also few reports scheduled to sent to receipents as pdf/excel formats. URL access approach we've been using for accessing report contents and convert into preferred output formats for scheduled delivery.

Each report has mult-valued parameters and the values are supplied by a underlying stored procedures. All source values of each parameter are also default values.

We've one task that requires us to know the default values of a parameter of the report before we query the report contents. We've google and found couple of articles which explained use of GetItemParameters method of Report web service (asmx). It seems this web service not available in Power BI Report Server. Can anyone of you let us know an alternative to achieve aforementioned task?

Appreciate your response.

I'm not sure where you saw that the asmx service is not available. It's definitely still there and covered in the online documentation https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-server-web-service/report-server-web-...

If I run the following on my local instance I get back the expected wsdl response and I can see the description of the GetItemParameters operation.

http://localhost/reportserver/reportservice2010.asmx?wsdl

The other option is that there is a newer REST based API which has a GetReportParameterDefinitions which will return a similar set of information see https://app.swaggerhub.com/apis/microsoft-rs/PBIRS/2.0#/Reports/GetReportParameterDefinitions

Thank you for the reply.

I've discovered it that the report web service is availble after posting this Query in this community.

Although I'm not aware of REST API , will definitely try it out.

Thank you very much..!
