visuals - a little automated

Hey the connoisseurs!

My question is how do I add a little automation to the visuals?
Assumed,
- my data source is in the form of an Excel spreadsheet, which can be accessed locally or on the web with a hyperlink;
- I imported these into Power BI with or without transformation and
- generates and publishes a visual based on it.

How can I now ensure that the visual changes according to the data contained in the data source?

Hi @Anonymous ,

You need to find the dataset for the published report in the Power BI Service and 'Schedule Refresh'.

Go to the workspace where your report is, hit the 'Datasets + dataflows' button, then hit the 'schedule refresh' button.

For an Excel file:

If your report uses the local Excel file as a source, you will need an Enterprise Gateway in order to authorise the PBI Service to access your network/machine to update the source.

If you use the web version of the Excel file as the source (SharePoint, OneDrive for Business etc.) then you will not need a gateway and MS will handle the access in the cloud.
