I am new to Azure, but I made a SQL database in the Azure portal and now im trying to connect Power BI to it. I have had no trouble connecting other sources to power BI, csv file, excel, etc. I am following these instructions for the server and database information but I am getting this error: "We are unable to establish connection, please check connection information."

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
@dvbell typically this means that you are not passing the correct path to the database or your database is not configured to Allow Access to Azure Services.
We set up an Azure SQL DB this am and with a little fiddling around, VOILA ... we were able to successfully connect Power BI.com "service" to the Azure SQL DB using just "fully resolved "server address" = xxx.database.windoes.net (from Azure DB admin).
However, when we tried to "Azure SQL CONNECT to Power BI Desktop" we get a "security error" where we need to "configure Azure SQL DB to "accept remote connections"?
BUT, I don't see that in the Azure SQL DB "admin settings"?
Any ideas?
yes, you also need to set up firewall rules for your sql azure. by default, it blocks all IP addresses from connecting it. You can specify a single IP address or a range of IP addresses in your firewall rules.
Thank you Andre ... can you point me to "how and where we set this up" ... the Azure SQL DB setup was sooth as silk but I saw "NO" settings for "allow these kinds of parameters"?
here is a link on how to configure it

Thank you Andre, that WORKED ! One last question for you guys ... we have loaded, for practice, the Azure SQL "Adventure Works DB" that is pre-loaded. When we use "Power BI Azure SQL Direct Connect: we get a LOT more tables than when we "use PBI Desktop" which ONLY seems to return "sales" ... is there something additional we need to so up on Azure Portal as PBI Desktop "just authenticates and loads sales"?
Well, check authentication settings obviously and you also send a "frown" to support. Smiley face in upper right corner in the Service. They have always been very responsive thus far.
