Unable to connect to on-premise MySQL server using Data Gateway for Power BI scheduled-refreshes

Hello Power BI Community,

I'm experiencing an issue while trying to connect to an on-premise MySQL server using the On-Premises Data Gateway for Power BI scheduled-refreshes. I have successfully installed the data gateway, and it shows up in Power BI. However, when I attempt to add a new MySQL data source, I encounter an error stating that the "MySql.Data.MySqlClient" package cannot be found on the gateway system. I have also been able to use the gateway for an ODBC data source to my MySql server, so i know the connection is good.

Here is the error message I receive:

Unable to connect to the data source. Either the data source is inaccessible, a connection timeout occurred, or the data source credentials are invalid. Please verify the data source configuration and contact a data source administrator to troubleshoot this issue.

Details:

SQL-Server: We were unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'.

To troubleshoot the issue, I have taken the following steps:

  1. Installed and re-installed .NET Framework, MySQL Connector/NET, and MySQL Connector/ODBC.
  2. Registered the MySql.Data.dll in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC).
  3. Copied the MySql.Data.dll file to the On-Premises Data Gateway installation folder and restarted the gateway service.

Despite these efforts, I'm still encountering the same error. I am running a Windows Server with RDP access, and my goal is to use the data gateway to connect my on-premise MySQL server to Power BI scheduled-refreshes.

I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this issue. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Best regards,

Matt

Downgrade your /Net connector to 8.0.28

Downgrading the mysql to 8.0.28 is not an option but it because vulnurable to log4j.

Need another solution to stay on mysql connector 8.0.33
