Scheduled Refresh on Dataset Failed

Hi All,

 

I have created a report on Power BI Desktop and published it online. I then scheduled a daily refresh of the data table used to create the report, originating in SQL. However the daily refresh does not work returning a failed email every time. Does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

    Looks like you need to extend the default timeout setting for your connection.  This can often happen when the "real" world refreshes are not as quick as your test ones.  This can be down to different elements of your network or servers being under load at certain times.

     

    Open the file up in your Power BI desktop and go into the Edit Queries.  Go to each of the source lines and click on the cog (We only care about the queries coming from your data sources).  When they open up, you'll see the Server name and Database name fields.  Look for the "Advanced" options, which needs to be clicked to expand out.  There is a "Command Timeout" option.  Place a large value in there like 90.  Apply/Close and then publish.
