[DataSource.Error] Access to the path '/Users/.............is denied

Hello! There are two Excel files stored on OneDrive. The first file is a database, and the second file is a file that connects to the first one via Power Query and retrieves data from it. The second file contains a macro that determines the exact path to the file so that when these files are moved to another folder, there is no need to specify the path again each time! Everything works fine on Windows, but when I open these files on MacOS, I get an error "[DataSource.Error] Access to the path '/Users/...........................detal.xlsx' is denied." However, when I turn off OneDrive on MacOS, everything works fine! For some reason, OneDrive is blocking Power Query on MacOS. All accesses are open! How can I unblock access? "When the files are located, for example, in the 'Downloads' folder on MacOS, everything works fine as well."

Hi @Timi11 ,

When working with Power Query, it’s essential to use relative paths to ensure portability across different systems and locations.
You mentioned that the second file connects to the first one via Power Query. To make this work seamlessly across platforms, consider using relative paths instead of absolute file paths.

And ensure that your OneDrive is fully synced and that you don't have any pending uploads or downloads. Sometimes, incomplete syncs can cause access issues. Ensure that the OneDrive sync app for MacOS is up to date. Microsoft frequently updates these apps for performance and security improvements. You can find instructions for setting up and troubleshooting the OneDrive sync app on MacOS here.

Since the issue doesn't occur when OneDrive is turned off, it's possible that the local OneDrive folder on MacOS has incorrect permissions. You can try to manually set the permissions for the OneDrive folder to ensure that Excel has the necessary access.

In addition, if you want to use Power Query on macOS, it is generally recommended that you use Excel for Mac. it is possible that the data source you created on your Windows system may have caused a cross-platform compatibility error, so you can try to create the same data source again on macOS and put it into OneDrive to see if there is a problem! You can try to create the same data source again in MacOS system and put it on OneDrive to see if there is any problem.

"Hello! The macro that determines the path to the necessary file is being used correctly, and then there is a function that uses this path to form a relative path. OneDrive is fully synchronized, and there are no issues with accessing the files. I have full read and write access to all folders in OneDrive. Of course, I am using Excel for MacOS, and these files were created specifically in Excel on the MacOS system."
