I am trying to connect to a Mariadb on Godaddy and get the "Unable to Connect" message. I can connect with the Heidisql tool in the Mariadb and mysql modes. I finally downloaded the most current version of PBI Desktop and MariaDB Direct Query Adapter for Micosoft Power BI and the Mariadb ODBC connector 3.2.4-GA. I confirmed MariaDB ODBC Driver is in the Registry. When I try to connect, I get "The Driver property with value [MariaDB ODBC 3.1 Driver] doesn't correspond to an installed ODBC driver" Thinking maybe it was referencing the Godaddy installation I then tried to use mysql as the data source and got "We couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided ,,,," (The same credentials I used with Heidisql.)
I have searched Godaddy Help pages and found nothing.
Has anyone seen and worked around this?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The incorrect Mariadb ODBC Connector was installed. The v3.4 was installed. The correct version, as the error msg "said" is V3.1 which is available on the MariaDB download site. The MariaDB site has a link to "MariaDB ODBC Connector v3.1.10" which actually links to v3.4. In my haste I clicked and downloaded. User error. Thanks to those who responded.

Hi @lutolfr
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum
It seems you're encountering connection issues between Power BI and your MariaDB database hosted on GoDaddy
Before diving deeper into troubleshooting, could you clarify the following:
What is the goal of this connection?
Are you trying to import or visualize data from MariaDB into Power BI, or are you performing a specific operation like querying or generating reports?
Understanding the purpose and the specifics of what you're trying to achieve will help narrow down the best solution for your connection issue.
Additionally please refer to below similar threads which might answer your query
