I am a trying to connect to TSCO via its RESTful Data API, specifically the custom structure data it provides. I've tried both the "Web" and "OData" feeds offered by PowerQuery (per this post), and I've run the query in both Excel 2016 and in Power BI Desktop.
I have tried running the query with the base URL - "https://hostname.domain:portnumber" - and with the URIs added, e.g. " data/ExtractCustomStructureData"
However, depending on the port I choose (8000, 8443, 8280, or 8380 - see here), I get one of two errors:
1) "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occured on a send."
2) "Unable to connect to the remote server"
We've logged a ticket with the BMC support team to see if they might understand the problem on their end (could it be an authentication issue?), but I'm brining it up here in case
A) it looks like I'm mishandling the Rest API from the Microsoft side, or
B) anyone has experience connecting to TSCO data.
Thanks for the help!
Hi @Anonymous,
I am not familiar about TSCO and I haven’t found any official articles or blogs stating how to connect to TSCO in Power BI Desktop.
In your scenario, you would need to contact BMC support team about how to determine a URL that returns effective data format, then use this URL in Power BI Desktop to connect to TSCO.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
