I dont think, that excel formulas could cause this problem. Are you sure, that the column names are exactly the same?
Certainly, if you could share the files, it will be easier to solve this.

Anonymous Good to hear. I dont know how you solved it, however it is not recommended to change column headers "manually".
The best practice is to use normalization function (eg. proper) inside TransformColumnNames function.
Also using "trim" to get rid of unwanted spaces is not a bad idea.
#"New table"=Table.TransformColumnNames(#"Previous table",Text.Proper)
#"New table"=Table.TransformColumnNames(#"Previous table",Text.Trim)
