We had prepared a PC where the App starts a slideshow from page to page and it cycles for ~4 hours and after that the slides won't change anymore and the view of the app stops usually on the last page. No error-message is dropped.
Workaround is to close and reopen the app but for sure this is not what the slideshow should behave like, right?
Is there an option to set on how long the slideshow should continue (12 to 24 hrous would be nice) or is it a bug not reported so far?

hey @Chris_Schaedler ,
The team is working on enabling slideshow support through Power BI add-in for PowerPoint, which we expect to have ready early next year. With Power BI add-in you will be able to utilize PowerPoint slideshow and infinite loop and integrate content from multiple reports and from additional sources in one presentation and slideshow.
Thanks Maya
Hey @Chris_Schaedler ,
Yes, that is the work we are currently doing - allowing users to ask the add-in to automatically refresh its data every given interval.
Thanks Maya
For @Chris_Schaedler or anyone other interested parties in the thread,
I've got a custom Power BI app to handle this already, called Displagent. It's a cross-platform desktop app, it runs on both Windows and Linux devices (Raspberry Pis are quite popular).
Displagent has several really nice, premium digital signage features that you cannot find anywhere else, not even in Powerpoint.
In particular, I've hand-crafted a feature called Report Slideshows, where you can piece together a slideshow for a Power BI report in a very customizable way. For example, you can:
I'm also finishing up Compound Slideshows this week actually, where you can combine slideshows from multiple Power BI reports/dashboards into one and create comprehensive slideshows.
I've also got autolaunch on machine startup and automatic updates. I've got a full docsite and feedback board where I regularly take feature requests. Even with the upcoming Powerpoint integration, I aim for Displagent to still have the premium featureset for Power BI digital signage.
Feel free to check it out if interested. If not interested, I'm still happy to answer any questions about Power BI embedded or the Power BI Javascript SDK as I've worked with both almost 2 years now.
welp, this is not the response i have hoped for. Are there reccommodations on how to provide Power BI reports on monitoring-PCs then in an preferably fully atomated way as it is ATM with the App in place (and without the bug i mentioned above)?
it is very cumbersome to create a similar slideshow with clicker-automatisations...
And my company is not the smallest 😉

ok I tried the PowerPoint-Addin as it is ATM. so for Static-Reports it appears to work already.
I'm as well interested on a Powerpoint-Addin which refreshes the Numbers live out of the Power BI report druing the presenentation automatically.
To elobarate a bit further:
So iexpect to see the new refreshed data to be shown latest in 9:32 within the slideshow while nobody is on the PC.
Will this featureset be included in this update?

ah, that would as well be an option. can we expect as users to have the App until the new feature is coming alive in the Powerpoint-Addin?
We would then try to taskkill the app all four hours just to be restarted via Task-Planner, right?
Last I heard is that the Windows app is deprecated and pulled from the store. Find alternatives.
