Slicer behaviour - Android versus IOS
Hi Team,
I have a set of dropdown slicers in my power bi mobile layout.
When the report is opened with an Iphone, they behave perfectly fine and as expected -> you click/touch the slicer and the dropdown options appear.
However, when opened with an Android, upon clicking/touching the slicer, it opens and closes in a milisecond.
The only way to see the slicer dropdown is by clicking/touching and slighly scrolling the report simultaniously, so the dropdown menu remains open.
I have tried with different Android versions (13, 14 & 15) and different android devices (tablets and phones) and the behaviour across all is as above.
Two iphones I tested behave normally.
Anyone experiened this issue and has a solution?
Thanks

Hey SSirozza,
Solution Steps for Android Slicer Dropdown Issue
Based on your description, this appears to be a known Android-specific rendering issue with Power BI mobile slicers. Here are the recommended troubleshooting steps:
Immediate Workarounds:
- Switch slicer visual type from dropdown to list format in the mobile layout
- Increase slicer height in mobile layout settings to provide more touch area
- Test with horizontal slicer orientation instead of vertical dropdown
Technical Fixes:
- Clear Power BI mobile app cache and data on affected Android devices
- Update to latest Power BI mobile app version from Google Play Store
- Disable any accessibility services or touch enhancement apps temporarily
- Check if Android's "Developer Options" > "Pointer Location" is enabled and disable it
Report Design Adjustments:
- Reduce number of concurrent slicers on mobile layout page
- Implement button-based filtering instead of dropdown slicers for Android users
- Consider using bookmarks with preset filters as alternative navigation method
Advanced Solutions:
- Create separate mobile-optimized report version specifically for Android deployment
- Implement custom visual alternatives that handle touch events more reliably
- Contact your organization's Power BI admin to log this as a platform-specific bug
Testing Protocol:
- Test changes across multiple Android versions (API levels 29-34)
- Verify solutions work consistently across different screen densities
- Document specific device models where issues persist for Microsoft support escalation
This issue has been reported by multiple users and appears related to Android's touch event handling conflicting with Power BI's dropdown implementation.

Hi all v-venuppu jaineshp michalfoster
I have just shared a video with microsoft support that Michal asked for. instead of going through all the steps above, i did the following -> created a fresh new pbix file from scratch. Within this file, I created a table consisting of only 2 columns -> Nationality and Grade and placed random values in rows. I then made a dropdown slicer across the whole mobile layout canvas (large enough to cover many of the topics you mentioned). Pushed to power bi cloud worskpace, tested with android and ios device next to eachother and unfortunately, the outcome hasn't changed.
I have to highlight one more thing -> while the reports are published within the powerbi workspace, we dont open the reports through power bi app itself (downloadable through google play). Instead, we have an in-house solution app that 'aggregates' different power bi apps/links into that single app. The access to the app is controlled by our IT team. Note however that this in house app is nothing but a fancy designed 'aggregator' and by no means it interfers with the standard functionality of the powerbi.
Also, due to the sheer volume of options in the slicer (20+), no other variant of the slicer other than the dropdown will fit the intended purpose.

Hi SSirozza ,
Our PG team has reviewed the video and confirmed that this is not a mobile app issue. We also got to know that the embedded channel has been suggested. Could you please share the video showing the issue both here and with the embedded channel team, so the appropriate team can investigate further?
Thank you.
