Hi There,
I have created a report in Power BI to track my asset data, including a field with barcodes, and successfully published the report. However, our assets are labeled with QR codes, not barcodes. I’ve noticed that the Power BI mobile scanner supports only barcodes and does not seem to scan QR codes.
Is there any workaround to make the QR codes scannable via the Power BI mobile app? Or am I possibly missing something in the setup?
Just for your information: If I generate a barcode, it works as expected. However, I need to utilize QR codes instead of barcodes.
Looking forward to your guidance.
Thanks and best regards,
Irfan Baig
Hi @Irfan-Baig,
Unfortunetly the Power BI mobile apps don't support report filtering using barcodes at this time.
We will consider supporting this functionality in the future if we get more requests for it. I suggest that you add it as an idea here: https://ideas.fabric.microsoft.com/
Thanks,
Maya
Hi, @Irfan-Baig, unfortunately what you want is not possible.
The Power BI mobile app can scan barcodes and QR codes but they serve different purposes.
QR code: Open Power BI reports or selected tiles. Scan a Power BI QR code from your mobile device
Barcode : Open and filter Power BI reports. Scan barcodes from the mobile app to get filtered data
Unfortunately, filtering a Power BI report through QR codes is not possible 🤔.
