Localization problem (cyrillic symbols)

I have installed PowerBI from MS Store on my surface book 2 and when I'm trying to get data from sql server all cyrillic letters are replaced by question marks like on the screenshot attached. On other laptops the same data in PowerBI has all correct cyrillic symbols.

Also when I open Power Query window in Power BI on my laptop all cyrillic letters are correct. I've already tried to change localization settings in PowerBI, Windows and nothing have helped.

Which Power BI desktop version did you run? Please update to the latest version 2.56.5023.1021 then test again.

My problem solved when I changed view definition on SQL server:

Before:

CREATE VIEW [dbo].[DrS__data_for_Power_BI]
AS
SELECT      COUNT(id) AS N'Број', areaName AS N'Облас'''
FROM        Recur
WHERE      parentId = 666999
GROUP BY areaName

Now:

CREATE VIEW [dbo].[DrS__data_for_Power_BI]
AS
SELECT      COUNT(id) AS N'Број', CAST(areaName AS nvarchar(255)) AS N'Облас'''
FROM        Recur
WHERE      parentId = 666999
GROUP BY areaName

Although areaName is defined as nvarchar, I had to CAST it. 😞
At least, it wasn't problem in Power BI Desktop.

Solved it by changing language for non-Unicode programs in Region settings.
