Field Parameters lose metadata when converting a Direct Lake SM to a local (Direct Query)

When working with a Direct Lake semantic model in Power BI / Fabric, Field Parameters lose their special properties once the model is converted to a local composite model (Direct Query mode).

After the conversion, the Field Parameter tables remain visible in the model but are treated as regular tables, not as true Field Parameters, meaning they no longer drive slicers dynamically or display dynamic field names in visuals.

The only current workaround is to manually edit the model metadata (TMDL) and re-add the missing extended property:

extendedProperty ParameterMetadata = {"version":3,"kind":2}
        type: string

This restores the expected behaviour, confirming that the metadata is simply dropped during the conversion process.

Please review this behaviour and consider preserving Field Parameter metadata when switching from Direct Lake to local composite models, as it impacts report authors and breaks dynamic visuals in local development scenarios.
