Azure Map crashes Power BI Desktop May 2023 update

I just installed the 2023 May update where Azure Map has been introduced as the big replacement map. However, when opening an older report already equipped with an Azure map visual (to change something completely unrelated), the report keeps crashing at random (at different pages), where the error details strongly seem to suggest Azure Map as the culprit (which would make sense, seeing how this has undergone significant changes this update). What seems to confirm my suspicions, is that deleting the Azure Map visual and saving the report as a copy without the map, seems to have solved all the crashes. That is, there hasn't been a single crash since, while with the Azure map visual, it crashed every two minutes at least.

Also, saving, closing, reopening the report (without the map) and then again adding (a new version of?) the Azure Map visual, immediately (~ after two minutes) reintroduces the crashes.

Part of the errordetails is pasted below:

Hi @C4YNelis

So what you are saying is that if you add Azure map to the report, then the program will crash. But you remove the Azure map and everything goes back to normal?

Hi @v-yetao1-msft ,

that is exactly what I am saying (the program being Power BI Desktop).

What's more, I already had the Azure Maps visual installed in my report, which has always worked just fine before. But now it crashes without having changed a thing.

Also, removing it solves the issue, but re-adding it, reintroduces the crashes.

Cheers,

Niels
