We activated the direct link to our Dataverse development environment a few days ago. One of the things that I wanted to evalutate is the storage impact in Dataverse of the delta tables. I can however not see any storage impact in the Power platform admin portal. The documentation states: "Tables added to OneLake consume Dataverse storage and admins can see storage consumption in the Power Platform admin center."
Could anyone give me a more specific pointer to where I find the Dataverse storage impact of the delta tables? Do they consume file storage? Or do I need to wait more than three days to see the impact?
Our consultant has reported many of their clients received a huge bill by using Fabric link (presumably since all tables requred change tracking enabled). Considering the size of our data, this is one of the reasons we went the Synapse Link route.
Any official reply or clarification from Microsoft on this?
Hi @mrtnhd,
Perhaps you can take a look at the official document about fabric link to the dataverse environment if helps:

Thank you for the answer. That is the documentation which I was referring to in my question.
I can see the size of the files in Fabric, but I can't see any impact on the Dataverse storage in the admin portal.
HI @mrtnhd,
Perhaps you can check following content about impact after integrated Dataverse to fabric:
When you link Dataverse with Fabric, the system creates an optimized replica of your data in delta parquet format. Data are stored in a way that is native to Fabric and OneLake, that your operational workloads aren’t impacted.
The delta/parquet files in Dataverse storage increases the required storage capacity.
Dataverse creates shortcuts to OneLake instead of duplicating data. This allows you to work with data without making multiple copies, which helps in managing storage more efficiently.

Hi,
I have read the documentation and what you write is exactly what I am asking about: "The delta/parquet files in Dataverse storage increases the required storage capacity." - where in Dataverse can I see this storage impact?
I can see that the delta files are >1 GB when I look at them in Fabric. In Power Platform admin portal there is however no impact on storage. I would assume that they would be counted as file storage in Dataverse, is that correct? Has anyone seen any storage impact of Direct link in Dataverse?
I would like to know the impact of link to fabric on my dataverse capacity.
Dataverse storage is expensive, and I cannot simply try this out to see how it goes.
I need solid information from Microsoft to calculate how much dataverse capacity is consumed by duplicating and storing the data in delta parquet files.
there is no clear guidance online & copilot literally tells me "no additional space will be consumed, when the documentation indicates the direct opposite!
When we activitated the direct link in our UAT environment the database storage grew for some tables, without an obvious pattern concerning which tables that grew and by how much. The answer that I have gotten elsewhere is that the direct link consumes database storage. How much storage that is consumed is however very unclear. It is very strange that Microsoft have a feature that they cannot (or maybe rather will not) explain the pricing model of.
We activated the direct link in our Prod environment a few days ago. So far (has been two daily updates of storage usage in the Dataverse admin portal since) I have not seen any storage impact from the direct link. Technically it is working well, ingested 100 million rows with an F2 capacity in 5 minutes.
Thank you for this information, it is very helpful!
Could I ask for you to let me know in a week's time, just in case theres any reason it has no treflected in the past few days.
We have still not seen any storage impact in the admin portal by activating the direct link.
Do we have any direct link to compare before or after "Link to Fabric" is enabled in Power Platform Admin
Any reporting can be found?
I need to share these details to move forward to enable the "Link to Fabric" on Dataverse if there is cost for increasing in Dataverse storage
thank you for following up on this!
We unfortunately cant use it yet, as it cannot be enabled on an environment with more than 1000 tables that have change tracking enabled.
The particular environment I was going to use it in has quite a few more tables, all with change tracking enabled.
