Fabric API: how get Connection id of a Data Pipeline
So there is a way to create a Fabric DataPipeline using API. Everything works fine, however in your JSON payload you need to specify the Connection id of all the connections in your Data Pipeline. The problem is that I cannot find a way on how to get these ids using API. These connections are Azure SQL Database connections.
Tried all API calls to get info on items , but those connections are not included. Also I cannot view them in OneLake Data Hub tab. They can only be viewed if you go to the Pipeline->Activity->Settings->Connections->More... That's very weird.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hi @Anonymous
Thanks for using Microsoft Fabric Community.
Currently, there is a limitation with Microsoft Fabric Data Pipelines and the API. While creating a pipeline through the API, you need to specify the connection IDs within the JSON payload. Microsoft Fabric Data Pipeline API lacks a functionality to directly retrieve connection IDs, especially for Azure SQL Database connections.
However, your suggestion is definitely valuable! We use customer feedback like yours to prioritize future features. The more users who request the ability to customize backgrounds, the higher it moves on our list.
Appreciate if you could share the feedback on our Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.
I hope this information helps.
Thank you
