Error code: ActionUserFailure

I got this error:

There was a problem refreshing the dataflow: 'Something went wrong, please try again later. If the error persists, please contact support.'. Error code: ActionUserFailure. (Request ID: 8205f3c2-8034-46b3-ad93-53ed994fe12f).

Hey again,

Just checking in to see if you were able to resolve the issue or if you're still running into the same error. That ActionUserFailure message can sometimes be tied to permission issues, workspace setup, or even temporary service hiccups.

If you're still stuck, feel free to share:

  • The exact steps you're taking
  • Where you're seeing the error (e.g. during refresh, publishing, etc.)
  • Any recent changes to your workspace or data source

Happy to help dig into it further if needed!

Hi @SulaimanTajuddi ,

🔍 Root Cause Possibilities:

  1. Authentication Failure:

    • The credentials used to access the data source may have expired or been revoked.
    • OAuth tokens may need to be refreshed.
  2. Permission Issues:

    • The user or service principal running the dataflow might not have sufficient permissions on the source data.
  3. Data Source Connectivity:

    • The source system may be temporarily unavailable or experiencing latency.
    • Firewall or network restrictions could be blocking access.
  4. Dataflow Configuration:

    • Changes in schema or structure of the source data may cause the dataflow to fail.

Recommended Steps:

  1. Check Credentials:

    • Go to the dataflow settings and re-authenticate the data source connection.
    • Ensure the authentication method (OAuth, Basic, etc.) is still valid.
  2. Verify Permissions:

    • Confirm that the user or service principal has read access to the source data.
    • If using a gateway, ensure the gateway is online and configured correctly.
  3. Test the Data Source:

    • Try accessing the data source directly (e.g., via Power BI Desktop or SQL client) using the same credentials.
  4. Review Dataflow Steps:

    • Open the dataflow in edit mode and step through each transformation to identify where it might be failing.
  5. Check Service Health:

    • Visit the Microsoft Fabric or Power BI Service Health Dashboard to see if there are any ongoing issues.
  6. Contact Support:

    • If the issue persists and the Request ID is available (as in your case), open a support ticket with Microsoft and include the Request ID for faster diagnosis.
