Hi all,
I’m working with Microsoft Fabric and have created a semantic model using DirectLake mode. I ingest data from Business Central into the lakehouse using PySpark notebooks. However, when I view the data source type in the semantic model, it shows as “SQL Server Database” for all tables—even though only one table actually uses SQL Server as a source. I expected the non-SQL tables to display the correct source type (e.g., Lakehouse/Delta).
The model was created with DirectLake in mind.
Most tables are populated from the Fabric Lakehouse using PySpark notebooks.
Only one table uses SQL Server as a source, but all tables in the model are labeled as “SQL Server Database” for the data source type.
The blue dashed line indicating DirectLake mode is present when I hover over the tables.
Is this expected behavior? If not, how can I correct the data source type display?
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way to have the correct data source type shown for each table in the semantic model?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi @hallmarke14
Yes, your sematic models are built with Directlake mode and your most of the tables are populated from the lakehouse, PBI may still lable all tables as SQL server data base, becuase your model is included one table sources from SQL server. Blue dashed line indicating DirectLake mode is present when I hover over the tables-yes it is indicating the storge mode, bcz, it's involved composite model.
As per previous discussions in the community forum, It's expected behaviour. please read this threadsSolved: Re: Changing the source of existing directlake mod... - Microsoft Fabric Community

It might helps you!
There are some unsupported features mentioned in official documentation. pls go thorugh this. Develop Direct Lake semantic models - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
Finally, I don't think its possible to correct the data source. Please raise a support ticket for assiantce from Microsoft.
Please let me know if it works.
Thank you!

I inquired using ChatGPT and it stated that it was a known issue with Microsoft. I came here to confirm that. I haven't been able to locate this issue in the roadmap to track its progress. Thanks!
