Hello all
My Fabric account will end in about a week. If I purchase the F2 capacity, and let's say I use exactly 2 hours a day for learning and pause the capacity when not in use.
Will I still have to pay the full F2 amount or is it based on pro rata on the total hours used study out of total hours in the month?
Thank you
Solved! Go to Solution.
As long as you pause the capacity, the capacity is not charged to you.
So you are only charged on the basis as long as the capacity is in resumed state

With PAYG, you are charged only for the time the capacity is running. This means if you use the F2 capacity for exactly 2 hours a day and pause it afterward, you will only pay for those 2 hours of usage. The hourly rate for 1 Compute Unit (CU) is approximately $0.22, and since F2 uses 2 CUs, the cost per hour would be $0.44. For 2 hours daily over a month (30 days), your total cost would be:
0.44 *2*30=26.4
ps : don't forget to pause the capacity:)
Free trail renewal is now 30 days instead of 60 days?
Databricks have just release permanent Databricks Free Edition and Microsoft instead of giving us a free edition of Fabric, cuts down trail renewal by half?

Thanks for the calculation, that was really helpful in understanding the payg model.
Hi @Nietzsche ,
Are you using Fabric Trial right now. When you reach towards end of trial days, it would prompt and show you link for renewing the trial on top left. So renew it again for 60 days and take maximum benefit of learning fabric with fabric trial account. I have done multiple renewal from last 1+ years.
And if you still want to go ahead with F2 SKU purchase for your project or personal study, then as mentioned by @NandanHegde , its based on usage and not charged if you pause capacity.
If this post helps, please accept this as a solution. Appreciate your kudos.
Thanks,
Pallavi
Hi @pallavi_r
Just got the pop up message today and got my trial period reset back to 60 days.
Thanks.
