Model Related: Tabular or UDM, we need to extend join condition like equal join with extended condition let’s say Snapshot between StartDt & EndDt .We need left JOIN in MODEL Excel with Tabular & AS: I think MS is investing lot in PowerView, Power BI etc. I am from finance industry and in BI space since more than 14 years, these tools are very basic and no one wants to see basic reports like what these tools are capable for. My suggestion is your winning world so far is MS AS with Excel. Excel as browse with Pivot & Tabular form. Pivot form will not work every time you need to extend excel as creating reports from Tabular AS in Tabular format. SharePoint: Now SharePoint excel services with connecting to cubes are almost useless. If you give online brosing facility and cannot see pivot table fields to do some changes, what’s the point? Creating a Reporting Services dataset based on a DAX query driven by parameter values created using MDX queries is currently a nightmare. The process is complex using the DMX editor and string expressions in order to build a dynamic DAX query to be run against a tabular model. There are significant performance benefits using DAX queries vs. MDX queries when returning detail data sets for drill through reports against a large tabular model. I believe that creating better support for DAX queries within Reporting Services would help to drive usage of Analysis Services Tabular models and help Microsoft BI users unlock the incredible capabilities of the stack. ... Tabular is basically a relational model with some computed columns (DAX) so, as a DW implementer, why am I having to land my data in the RDBMS and then re-process it into another in-memory store just because it talks a different language and protocol? It would be a big thing to be able to point an reporting tool e.g. Excel, Power BI (and yes, other vendors visualisation tools) straight at the relational db and get a SASS like experience.
