View Username Of A Gateway In Data Source Settings

The username used for the enterprise gateways on the Data Source Settings page of the Gateways management page of the online Power BI management page shows only dots and masks username. This requires referencing the username used in the credentials in the title of the gateway name to ensure everybody knows which account is being used for that connection. Having the username actually shown in this page would greatly simplify the gateway management process.

Causes lots of issues when there are multiple admins of the gateway. It means we have to keep a manual, separate list....so boring.

This is turning out to be a major problem for us. IT wants to rotate a lot of our passwords, but we cannot tell which gateway connections will be impacted without knowing what usernames are associated with the connections in the first place. Major failure on Microsoft's part.

Currently we're facing a scenario where business is updating the couple credentials used for DB connections at gateway connection. Now they wants to update/rotate the password for security reason and seeking our help to know where these credentials are being used in PowerBI. Unfortunately we dont have any way to pull all the gateway connections where is this username being used.We should have API which will help us to pull all the gateway connections which are using a specific username and DB details.

Please show the ****** used in a gateway ! That way, we know which account to use if we need to reauthenticate. Some gateways use different service accounts. When I see ******, it let's me know it's not account *****, ******, or ******. This saves so much time and prevents potential account lockouts by guessing the wrong ******. I mean, haven't Microsoft themselves been victimized by this draconian level of security ? Sincerely, ******

Is it me, or is the user name now visible !? I've checked my gateway connections and i can now see the user name displayed. Rejoice !

It looks like this works for gateway connections created after a certain date. Gateway connections created years / months ago still show ******** as the user name. However, gateway connections created in the last month or so do display the user name.

Then, when I update the user name and password for the older gateway connections, the user name persists and displays after saving.
