Power Bi Desktop May Update - Import data from SSAS ignoring DAX query

Today I updated Power BI Desktop to the latest version and I noticed that importing data from SSAS Tabular using a MDX or DAX query ignores this query completely and sends you to the model browse form. Posted comparison between 2016 May Update and previous versions in Community forum: http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Power-Bi-Desktop-May-Update-Import-data-from-SSAS-ignoring-DAX/m-p/41340#M15630

Hello Aaron, I have asked the team to take a look. Thanks, Chuck
  • Thank you very much! The workaround is Get Data/Blank Query and type the command: =AnalysisServices.Database("SSAS_SERVER", "Database", [Query="YOUR DAX QUERY"]) It looks like the bug affects only the Get Data/Analysis Services dialog.
  • Same issue here. Unfortunately we are in the process of migrating many of our reports to PowerBI dashboards via cube connection and this bug is putting a stop to our production. A new release with the fix is highly appreciated!
  • I am being asked to supply SSAS cubes, pbix files and mdx queries? No way I can send SSAS databases. Can the support teams replicate this using the microsoft test SSAS databases? It doesn't seem that hard to replicate?
  • Guys, please fix - this just stopped us from developing in PowerBI. Please - fix ASAP Thank you
