The Horizontal Orientation Slicer adds nice functionality but other buttons like the Bookmark/Page navigator have richer customization such as shapes and styles for each state (Default, Hover, Press, Selected).
I find the greyscale palette hard to use for both myself and users and these design features would be great.

I was just about to post the same idea but found it was already posted, yes this is feature would be really beneficial as currently the selected item in the slicer has a black background and white text which looks horrible in some reports.

I was just about to post the same idea. Sadly we're the only ones so far, since it didn't get many upvotes.
I'd love to change the style of a selected value in a horizontal slicer, depending on the state. Thusfar it's only possible to change the background and the value colour. The buttons already have this feature, but it'd be super usefull to have this on the horizontal slicer as well.
there was a post about this before, but since 2016 there hasn't been any introductions or options for this. https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Can-you-change-the-hovering-colors-of-a-horizontal-slicer/m...
If you know a workaround, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

With the introduction of field parameters this request is even more relevant. When formatting options are the same as with page and bookmark navigators, you only need to have a slicers with field parameter tiles and visuals with the field parameter. I think it can simplify a lot of reports, taking down bookmarks and additional pages!

I was also about to post the same idea. Since introduction of field parameters, using slicer with "tiles" with field parameters has enabled designing reports with much more options for the end users compared to how clumsy and laborious bookmarks and different visuals or pages for the same this where but from a point of view of a developer with a focus on UI, this lack of formatting options is now a huge issue because good UI is consistent and at the moment Power BI options make this pretty impossible.

The default formatting is a bit confusing for the users, formatting options similar as on bookmark navigator would help a lot.
