Hi,
I'm trying to build a report with a 5 page layout which refer to two datasets and I want this layout to be repeated for each check number, how do I achieve this in Power BI report builder.
@v-sgandrathi tagging you here since you have been helpful in resolving my query
Hi @AnupamaSemwal99 ,
To build a report in Power BI Report Builder with a repeating 5-page layout for each check number, set up your report so that a List or Tablix groups data by Check Number and formats it over five pages. Begin by creating two datasets: one for general check details (such as Check Number and Check Date) and another for the detailed transactions for each check. Place the first dataset into a List control, and design the 5-page layout inside it, using elements like Rectangles to organize different sections. Group the List by Check Number and add a Page Break after each group to start a new set of pages for each check. Inside the List, create five sections to represent each page, and use visibility settings to manage which section is shown on each page. Adjust the Page Size in the report properties to fit the 5-page format, and test the report to confirm that page breaks and groupings work as intended.
Hi, i did create a list and group it check number and added sections inside it for different pages but i have section that refers to another dataset and as soon as i create that the report gives an error while running that this is not under current dataset scope. This is happening because anything i put inside the list is getting bound to the dataset i used for that list. Please let me know if you can help me resolve the same and if possible please connect with me so that I can let you know my issue in detail.
Hi @AnupamaSemwal99 ,
Thanks for sharing the details. What you're seeing happens because anything you put inside a List gets tied to the dataset you used for that List. That’s why when you try to reference another dataset inside it, the report shows the 'not under current dataset scope' error.
A common way to handle this is to move your 5-page layout into a sub report. In your main report, keep the List grouped by Check Number, and place the sub report inside that group. Pass the Check Number as a parameter to the sub report, and inside it you can freely use both datasets. This way, each check still produces its own 5-page layout, and you avoid the dataset scope issue.
