Hey guys,
I recently started receiving a problem when using the Datasources API ("https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/admin/datasets/{dataset}/datasources")
I started receiving the message "You have exceeded the amount of requests allowed in the current time frame and further requests will fail. Retry in 3565 seconds."
I would like to understand what the API limitations are, because until now I had not received this, and literally nothing has changed in my environment.
Hello, for your information we faced the same issue. I have created a Support Ticket under our Premier Support EA with Microsoft. I got the answer this morning:
"
Many thanks for your patience,
Kindly note that our Product Group implemented new throttling limits based on historical usage data. However, it has become apparent that the introduction of a new throttling limit, specifically set at 50 calls per hour for the GetDatasourcesAsAdmin API, has proven to be overly restrictive for quite a few customers. We are actively addressing this issue by reverting to our previous throttling mechanism, where calls are queued rather than rejected. This interim solution will ensure smoother operation while we determine a new throttling limit that accommodates all intended use cases for this API.
Workaround:
While we work on refining the throttling limits for the GetDatasourcesAsAdmin API, we understand the importance of providing viable alternatives for our users. As a temporary workaround, we recommend leveraging our scanner APIs to access all datasource information for your tenant. The scanner APIs offer a robust solution for retrieving datasets and related datasource information. For more information, please refer - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/admin/workspace-info-get-scan-result While we acknowledge that this workaround may not fully replicate the functionality of the affected API, we believe it serves as a practical solution until we finalize a new throttling limit that effectively caters to all use cases.

I won't share here my opinion on such a change.
I have however asked the time frame for the revert.
Best luck with that news.
the problem is that I can do it in any other api except the datasource api endpoint.
@caiolopeszamp I think it is 200 requests per hour but it isn't really documented well. There are ways around it.
