Awhile back, I got frustrated with the limited grouping options for histograms, so I created some calculated columns for some default grouping options (see picture).
I am now trying to modify my report to ask the user what grouping they prefer, by having them input a min, max, and increment. I want to use the input to create the column and thus a histogram. Any way to do this?
Hi @cwindsor ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.
You cannot dynamically create a calculated column in Power BI based on inputs like min, max, increment.
Calculated columns are computed at data refresh time, while slicers / user inputs work at query time. By using measure + disconnected parameter table you can get the desired result.
I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.

Dinesh
