I have a list of 40 Report IDs in the Power BI service that point to a defunct DatasetID.
I need to change the DatasetID for all 40 of them.
Can this be done with the API?
Bonus question: What if some of the reports are in users' "My Workspace"?
Thanks for looking!

You can try Rest Api as below to change data source for your reports.
Important: The original datasource and the new datasource must have the exact same schema.
Required scope: Reports.ReadWrite.All
Restrictions:
My workspace:
For reference: Reports - Update Datasources
POST https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/reports/{reportId}/Default.UpdateDatasources
Specific workspace:
For reference: Reports - Update Datasources In Group
POST https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/groups/{groupId}/reports/{reportId}/Default.UpdateDatasources

I need the same thing. After a quick test, I think https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/reports/rebindreportingroup and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/reports/rebindreport does the trick.

Thanks @Anonymous but I was looking for something that works on PBIX reports.

Thanks @Anonymous ... I agree it looks like the best we can do.
