SharePoint List Data Source Refresh

Hi, 

I built a report with SharePoint on-prem list as the data source. How often this data refreshes automatically? Ideally I would like to keep a live report. Whenever there is an update to the list, I would like to refresh the report. 

How can I achieve this? Please advise.

For Sharepoint Online the official documentation says "within the hour"  of a list change the dataset is refreshed.  Let's say we found that to be inconsistent. You can always choose to refresh via schedule.

For on-prem sharepoint you need both a gateway and you need to set up your own refresh cadence, either via schedule, or via Power Automate (refresh Power BI Dataset when Sharepoint list has changed)
