PowerBI Embedded azure app: Maximum file size of pbix and checking error logs

Recently, I uploaded a ~350MB pbix file in PowerBI Embedded Azure app (following power-bi-embedded-get-started-sample) and it ran for more than three hours. I got no error and no message. So I closed it assuming there would have been some error.

So my questions are in PowerBI Embedded azure app,

  1. What is the maximum file size of pbix that can be uploaded
  2. How can one check logs when some error occurs while uploading?

@Varun

I tested to upload a pbix more than 600Mbs and it was uploaded without problem. I have no idea on the exact pbix size limit but I guess it is not less than 1Gb as in Power BI Service.

In my case, the network is good and uploading 600Mbs is just in minutes. So you could try upload in a better network. AKAIK, there's no log feature, I've submit a request for log in the git library, you can add you comment there.

@Eric_Zhang

We are following the Get started with a sample | Microsoft Docs to upload the pbix file to Azure PowerBI Embedded App.

Following are the steps which we have taken:

  1. Created a PowerBI Embedded App in Azure portal
  2. Downloaded thePower BI Embedded - Integrate a report into a web app sample from GitHub and ran the Console application from solution
  3. Using the console application,
    1. created workspace in Azure PowerBI Embedded app
    2. Started uploading the PBIX file (size ~330 MB) and faced following error.

 Error while uploading PBIX file to PowerBI Embedded appError while uploading PBIX file to PowerBI Embedded app

We have tried multiple times and still facing the same error. Our network upload speed is 50-90 MBps (speed looks good enough).

@Varun

The provisionSample has a new release days ago, can you try it? Do ensure you've used the correct workspaceid and accessKey. If the error persists, in the new release, you would get a request id. Please submit a support ticket with the request id.
