Power bi object properties weirdness

I am developing a custom visual that mimics a lot of the same properties at the built-in matrix visual. There seem to be some weirdness/magic connected to some of the properties. I published an example to GitHub. https://github.com/bjarne81/powerbi-sample

When defining the wordWrap property under objects -> rowHeaders. I can’t seem to default it to false. If I make another property called wordWrapper I can default that to false.

When defining the virticalGridThickness under objects -> grid the control will not show up if I define it as a type of integer, but it works for rowPadding
