Power Query SCRAM Authentication - Custom Connector

Does anyone have any experience authenticating with SCRAM in a custom Power Query connector?

I'm specifically looking to integrate with the Project Haystack API.

Curious how you implemented this?

Looking to do something similar.

Hi @ThomasMagnum308

Power Query itself does not have built-in functions for SCRAM authentication, and SCRAM requires cryptographic operations (e.g. HMAC, SHA-256), which Power Query's M language does not natively provide. It is recommended to use an intermediary service (e.g. using Python, Node.js, or .NET) to handle SCRAM authentication. This service will authenticate the target API using SCRAM and return a token or session key to Power Query. Power Query can then use this token for subsequent API requests.

Yulia Xu
