Need Help on API connection

I have inherited a report which is connected to an API.  I am trying to determine how that was connected so I can generate different new reports that connect to the same API.  I have the base URL used to make API calls, account used to make API calls and a key for connecting to the server.  I do not have a password.  I don't know if I have everything I need.  I have tried different ways to no avail.  Any help would be appreciated.  Either on specific API connection guidelines or in interpreting the massive report I inherited...  Thanks in advance.
