I followed the tutorial here to add a Developer Visual to my Power BI report: https://github.com/xiaodongliang/forgeviewer_embed_in_powerbi_report
Now I want to populate the table in the report with data from a local SQL Server DB.
But the only way to add a connection to SQL Server is using Power BI Desktop and there is no Developer Visual in Power BI Desktop.
I tried creating the dataset on Power BI Desktop, publish it and then add the Developer Visual instance on the web, but the connection between visual and table was not made.
My question is how can I add data from a SQL database to the table connected to the Developer Visual?
Hi @Anonymous ,
It seems that this project can only use .xlsx files as data source files. If you want to use SQL Server DB as a data source, you need to modify his project code or customize developer visual.

Lionel Chen

Hello, thank you for your answer. How can the developer visual be customized in this case?
