I am using Power BI Version: 2.138.782.0 64-bit (November 2024) and am seeking guidance for how to change the default color for Markers in a Scatter Chart. The Error message at the top of my scatter chart says “We couldn’t find the value for Default color. Source field: Color Current_Grade. To fix the problem, pick a different field. I pasted images to this message.
I cannot locate where to change the default color. I clicked the Color section and I selected "All" in the Apply settings to Series section instead of individually selecting color by Dept Cd and it will not allow me to change the color assignment. The color selector is grayed out and also does not have an fx button next to it where I may click to add conditional formatting to apply to the Markers.
I appreciate any assistance in finding out how to change the Default color for the scatter chart Markers and how to find the Conditional formatting to apply color changes to the Markers? Thank you
Scatter Chart Markers I want to Change the default colors
My Format Visual settings
Hi @JAD1 ,
This issue usually happens when Power BI is “driving” the marker colors from a field—in your case, the Color Current_Grade field—and therefore the default color (and its fx button for conditional formatting) isn’t available. In a scatter chart, when you place a field into the “Legend” or “Color” well, Power BI expects to assign a color based on that data rather than letting you choose one manually.
Best Regards
