Create Azure Power BI Embedded (Capacity) in different tenant/AAD as Power BI Pro Account User

For a client we are developing a Portal where they can share reports with their customers. These reports are created in Power BI and we use Power BI Embedded to display these reports in this Portal.

This customer already has an tenant and Azure subscription through another supplier, in which they have their AAD with users, O365 and Power BI Pro accounts. We also provide them with a CSP Azure subscription (in another tenant), containing Azure resources, to host this Portal. We would like to also deliver the Power BI Embedded Capacity required for Power BI Embedded via this subscription. Is this possible?

Until now we are unable to create that Power BI Embedded Capacity. At the "Location" field we now get a message "The default location cannot be detected because the tenant or user was not recognized by Power BI. Sign up for Power BI and try again.”. Which probably means we need a user in this tenant with a Power BI account.

Hi @gjkerpershoek  did you ever found a solution for "cross-tenant" setup of azure pbi embedded?

Hi @jochenj

No, unfortunately we ended up creating the embedded capacity in the same tenant.

@gjkerpershoek thanks for the confirmation! i also didn't found any way so far to a cross-tenant scenario, the best option i can think of is if hard isolation is needed: Create a dedicated AAD, assign a Subscription to this AAD, Create a PBI-Tenant in same AAD and buy at least one PBI Pro Licence.
