Hello,
I am running into weird issue. I had a visual based off of Charticulator which was working as I had July 2021 power bi. Recently I upgraded to Feb 2022 Power BI. Now Charticulator stopped working and I get this error when I open the PBIX.
Workaround I figured out was this: If I go to another tab in the report and come back to this tab then error goes away automatically and I see the visual. I already have Charticulator installed from the App Source as well.
Now, the problem is this problem persists in Power BI Service. Even if, I go there, do edit, go to another tab in the report and come back, it fixes it but it doesn't hold up. So if I open the report again in service, then users see this error. Is it a bug?

Tagging @mahoneypat as you helped me with Charticulator earlier.
Thanks for your help,

Hi @RK_JOB,
When a visual is installed from AppSource, a local copy is saved in your report. For some reason, this is missing from yours - you can confirm this by opening your .pbix in a compressed file tool such as 7Zip. Navigating to the Report folder in this archive, should show a CustomVisuals folder, and then any custom visuals are included there, e.g. (for a file with this correctly applied):
In your .pbix, the CustomVisuals folder is missing:
This will likely be why you're getting the error message. It's not an issue with Charticulator per se; more that Desktop has got your report into an incorrect state... somehow.
Fixing-Up
To rectify, I re-added Charticulator from AppSource and saved the report. Re-checking the .pbix now shows that everything is as it should be:
Note that when you re-add the visual with the affected page open, it is not automatically re-initialised by Power BI Desktop, so it appears to still be "broken". Navigate away from the current tab and back (or close and re-open the file) for this to re-initialise correctly.
Hopefully this should resolve for you in a similar way. Good luck!

thanks @dm-p very clever solution.
I figured it out with some trial and error. I actually pinned the Charticulator so for some reason, it was not picking it up. Once I deleted it and got it back - without pinning it. It shows up correctly.
Looks like behind the scene, that's what happened. For some reason, if it was already pinned, Power BI in the newer version didn't recognize it in the Custom folder.
Thanks a lot!
