Can we also use service principal to configure the datasets ?

Hi,

Currently I am using my  personal account to configure datasets in power bi service. Can we also use service principal to configure the datasets in Power BI Service ?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Here I suggest you to call Power BI REST API to do some options on your Power BI Dataset.

Here is the offical blog about how to configure service principal. 

You may refer to this offical blog with all REST API about Dataset and have a try.

By using Rest API, you need to get access token by Service Principal and then use this access token to call Rest API to achieve your goal like get/delete/refresh in dataset.

You can do this by Postman. For reference: Power BI REST API using postman - generate embed token.

Some Rest API may have limitation in Service Principal, you may check the limitation in offical blog.
