can any one please help me what are databases mostly used for developing power bi reports?
where u get data for developing reports?

Hi @annapurna,

As Power BI is Microsoft solution people mostly use it in combination with:

1. SQL Server database
2. SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular model
3. Azure SQL database
4. Azure Analysis Services model

#1 and #2 are on-premises, #3 and #4 are cloud solutions (new trend now).

Less using are:

1. SQL Server Analysis Services Multidimensional cube
2. Oracle DB
3. PostgreSQL
4. Hadoop

In case you want to have testing data please download sample databases from internet. Search "AdventureWorks database" (any version) for SQL Server/Azure SQL. For instance this link - https://github.com/Microsoft/sql-server-samples/releases/tag/adventureworks

You can receive a free account in Azure portal to have ability to use any resource/application for a month. They will give you 200$ to spend on anything you want there. Refer to this link - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/. Once you want to use another db or resource you can remove previous one. 

There is ability to use database with sample data (AdventureWorks). Look at screenshot belowazure sql
