unable to open PBIX file in Power Bi Desktop

Hi.

I cannot open my PBIX file. I have tried to untick the "Autodetect new relationship after data is loaded", however it did not help. It seems like it is not saving the setting.

Hope somebody can help

@Anonymous

Please double check on your instance setting to confirm if it works.

You can try turn on the 'parallel loading' feature to skip the broken query to keep loading.

Hi @Pragati11 .

I am pretty sure I know the problem regarding DAX. However, my real problem is that I cannot open the PBIX file in the PowerBI desktop app, and therefore cannot rewrite the DAX function.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on your following comment, I thought you were able to open it but can't save any settings:

" I have tried to untick the "Autodetect new relationship after data is loaded", however it did not help. It seems like it is not saving the setting."

Have you tried opening Power BI Desktop application first and then opening your .pbix file from there by pointing it to your pbix file location?

If you still see the issue then raise a support ticket here:

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/

Thanks,

Pragati

Hi @Anonymous ,

The issue is in your error message. I think there is a problem with your DAX function:

'The MIN function only accepts a column reference as an argument.
The syntax for ';' is incorrect. (DAX(
IF(Date="accounting date"; ALL('2accountingdate'[accountingdate]);
)).a
An argument of function 'DATE' has the wrong data type or the result is too large or too small.
'.

Can you check your DATE column refrenced in above DAX. Check it's datatype.

Also, it looks like your have created a measure without adding any summarisation. So, basically check this and save the pbix file.

Thanks,

Pragati
