total of a pivot column is different from the sum of all columns values

Hello,

i have the following issue. We have contract hours assigned to only one department. In reality most do not work for one department only and hence have done work in other departments too. Now I simply wanted to divide the costs by the sum of one department through the costs of all departments one did work for and multiply it by the contract hours.

Works like a charm so far on a row base, but the total of the column differs from the sum of column values. The math behind is somehow correct. I hope with the attatched photo you get the idea (9 instead of 10).

Any suggestions highly appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi @Tyroooon,

Can you please share some detailed information or sample data? I'm not so clear for your issue.

I don't really understand your workings, but if your column total doesn't match your row totals, it is no doubt a sumx issue. Read my article here - particularly the section "totals don't add up"
